Re: Irish boaters - any out there????

Seriously, I'm so American-centric that I clicked on this thread to say, Ha! I'm more Irish than any of you! because I am of 100% Irish ancestry, but born in Florida.

Oops.

I'll be slinking away quietly now...

thats ok! nice of you to drop in. i travelled route 66 3 years ago and everyone i meet was irish!

damomul, i normally boat/wakeboard on the river bann but like to get to fermanagh as often as possible. in fact, my boat was bought in kesh. a few of us head down to castle archdale a few times over the summer or hire a cruiser from manor house - soooooooo much water, so little time ... you're right about iboats being the oracle. it'll save you alot of worry and cash! welcome aboard!

I'd like to chime in to say that my ancestors were kicked out of most every respectable country in western Europe. Mainly, Ireland. :D

My Shamrock must be Irish. It can run on 100% alcohol for months at a time.

Half of my family came from Ireland. They were run out of France many years ago. ( huguenots) The other half met the boats when they got to the new world.

Re: Irish boaters - any out there????

I was just thinking... I couldn't be the only person from Ireland registered here. I'd be keen to hear if there are any other members from Ireland who use this great resource. If not I may have to start spreading the word!!!

D.

My mother's family were Flynns and O'Sheas from County Kerry.... Dingle to be exact. Left Ireland during the Famine for the Boston / North Shore area and stayed.

Now I'm in North Carolina and live about 250 yards from the ocean and across the street from the sound.

I am an "Irish" boater...... who boats in So Cal. My grandparents (both sides) were born in Ireland - County Cavern - and immigrated to NY in the early 1900's. Both my parents, and my 6 siblings, (Irish AND Catholic!!) were born in NY and moved to Malibu in the 60's.

To quote a line from the classic movie Blazing Saddles: "We'll take the niggers & the chinks, but we don't want the Irish ..."

My dad was pure Irish, I'm only half. My mom was all messed up - English, German, Dutch and Scotch.

My grandmother's family built the railroad, grandfather's family built the Erie Canal. Then they all moved to Iowa and started farming.
