Re: irritating

you have either a leaking float needle, any carb running over? air leak in fuel line. bad check valve in primer bulb. once motor is started, the bulb is not suppose to be hard, because fuel pump starts drawing fuel thru it. so it would be soft, but have enough fuel in it for the pump to pick up. check out your fuel system for leaks.

Re: irritating

Sounds like some air is getting in there somehow. Remedy...As per TD response.

Re: irritating

try a temporary 6 gal tank with new fuel line, new bulb.
If it runs fine on that you know where to look.
If it runs just the same you know where the problem isn't.

Re: irritating

If the red handle on the primer solenoid is aligned with and adjacent to the cylindrical part of the primer solenoid, it should allow the pressurized fuel to bypass the carburetors and flow to the intake manifold.

If the pressurized fuel is not flowing when the solenoid clicks, the valve may be bad. Replacing the valve only takes a few minutes and the repair kits are readily available, both OEM and aftermarket.

The kit is part number 437228 0r aftermarket part #18-0993. If you want to replace the red handle valve with a schrader valve, the part number is 175158 or 18-0871.

Re: irritating

Remove the enrichener assy and remove the 4 screws and cap, check the filter to see if its stopped up. Many people do not know there is a internal filter and if obstructed it will cause hard starting do to little or no fuel being delivered to primer fittings.
