THE NUMBER ONE RULE OF BOATING FOR THIS GIRL IS TONNAGE RULES.
THE MOST DANGEROUSE THING I CAN THINK OF IS RUNNING A BOAT WITH PEOPLE IN THE WATER.
CAN YOU DERMINE THE RIGHT OF WAY VESSEL IN A CROSSING SITUATION?
CAN YOU JUDGE RANGE, AND BEARING IF YOU ARE THE STAND ON VESSEL.
20MP IS FAST ENOGH TO CUT SOMEBODYS HEAD OFF, TOUGH LOVE, BUT PUTTING SOMEONE BEHIND A MOVING VESSEL IS A RESPONSIBILITY THAT SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. YIKES, I SOUND LIKE A GROWN UP.

G'day Jabboo

Check out this website;

www.airhead.com

I've got one of their products (called "Race" - which is a 54" tube and similar to the product they show called "Blast"). It's a lot of fun - kids love it, adults too.

I'm told that the "Flash" (which is a triangle shape) is better because the rider can steer it (leaning to either side) which you can't do on the round one.

We can get them in NZ, so they should be available in Sydney too. I recall the price was around NZ$180, so probably around A$150 (I see they're a bit cheaper on http://www.outdoorworld.com/airheadcatalog - the "Flash" is US$52.99).

I've never tried it on 20hp but suspect it would be OK (I've used a bigger boat). If you're serious about getting one, then I'd recommend checking with the manufacturer or a dealer to make sure it'll be OK with your boat. I suspect it would be OK.

I'll bet Sydney Harbour is great for boating about this time of year - almost as good as Auckland! ;)

Cheers from across the Tasman...

sorry about the caps, i'm not yelling, please believe me. Surf boards are fun at low speed, longer the better, and foams boards are the easiest.

Re: is 20hp enough for skiing?

20Hp on what? A 14' fishing boat? I have seen kids water ski behind a 14' boat with a 15hp motor. They were small kids but they could do it..

Its all about the weight. If you are trying to pull a tube with a 200lb guy, I think you may be disappointed. If you are pulling the kids in a tube, they would probably have fun. You could probably add a doel fin to help your boat plane and get out of the water.

Using a larger tube may also help since it won't sink into the water as much and should skim on the water with more weight.

There are tons of towing tubes out there at all sorts of price points. I got mine for $39 on sale.

A skier will jerk a small boat around bad. We did it with knee boards as teanagers but when the skier would cut to the side you would think the boat was going with him

My 90 hp 17' Capri takes about 1/2 a mile to pull me up on a single ski (I weigh 180 pds). Let me tell you, that's not enjoyable. Double skis is a lot easier and tubing is a blast.

Like the prior post indicates, depends upon what you have the motor on.

Hi Jabboo

I think on one of your previous posts you had said you were new to baoting and this is your first boat.

I personally think a 12 foot boat with tiller steer coupled with inexperience might not be a good combination for skiing.

Just an opinion and not trying to insult in any way, just something to think about.

Good luck, happy boating down there while I'm clearing snow out of my driveway.
