Four Winns,

Are you saying the the last pic of the boat at the dock with the gorgeous sunset is only a 21 footer? Looks much longer to me. If I had to guess I'd think it was more like a 27 footer--at least
.

The boat is 21 feet long. And that's a sunrise.

I wanted a 23 foot Sea Ray Cuddy with the private potty, sink, stove. I wound up putting a deposit down on a 22 footer that only had the potty under the seat. No privacy.

I've never owned a boat. As an armchair skipper, I envision grabbing the Missus and brats, climbing aboard our home away from home on the water for days at a time. I realize that our fantasy of ownership may actually exceed our reality.

To me a mid size cuddy--say 23 or 24 feet--is the ideal compromise craft.

Give the 22 a try and see if your family likes staying out on the water. If it's something they really like, you can always upgrade to a larger boat. In any small cuddy, I don't think you can be self-contained for days at a time. You'll run out of water, ice, etc.

I think the biggest question here is; what is your purpose for owning a boat? Is it to entertain friends, or spend some time with the family?

The bowrider, or even a pontoon is the better choice for entertaining. If you're usually out with the wife and kid, maybe one or two guests- then the cuddy probably makes more sense.

I have a 19' bowrider on "LKN" (I see you're local) and most afternoons its NOT enough boat due to the lake traffic, we get beat up pretty bad. I'd say a 22'+ boat would handle the main section of the lake much better.

I grew up on a 28' cuddy and most days I'd kill to have that boat back, mostly for the late afternoon naps... :)

The choice is yours! Hope you end up with something fun!

Not a die hard fisherman? Have kids? Enjoy the quiet and sounds of water on the hull? Need some privacy for guests to change clothes? Then a cuddy makes great sense.

Depending on size, there may be a sink and counter too.

Decide hwat is important then you will know what style boat you need.
