ok i think we were misunderstanding each other. the brackets that mirror the keel are the best once they are mounted above the keel. the 3 inches in enough to clear the drag, i thought you meant to make it the same level as the keel. with the 3 inches clearance u get to clear the drag and get maximum area to create flotation, and the hull drain stays where it is. thats the most common in my area.

Thanks for the picts, you are doin a fine job!!
I think that you have me sold on a pod as well, the D&D 1 looks good & Sure frees up the back of the boat. my transom is curved, What are you going to make it out of?

Thanks,I am thinking aluminum for the bracket. A litlle more my comfort area.
