i was thinking of laying down hardyback for a new floor on top of the current floor i have now. it was free because of work. i want to use resin and hardner to toughen it up then paint over it. I have a 1972 16ft fabuglas.

Any tips are very appreciated.

Hardy Board/Backer is too heavy.

As Grub stated, double decking is a slovenly fix that will only cause more problems down the road.

Remove your old decking and repair any damage below deck before installing a new plywood deck.

I wouldn't put cement board in my boat. Besides being the wrong thing to use, it's heavy. Listen to the Grubs, Sean.

And welcome to iboats.

But just think of the selections of tile flooring you could use ! :D Just kidding but really like everyone else has said it,s definitely not a good material to use ..

Nope, seems heavy, and would chip and break over time. That being said, I am thinking of going with TREX for a homemade swim platform instead of teak to save $$$$$
