I recently purchased a 1994 Evinrude 25 hp engine and it will only stay running if you put your hand over the front of the engine. Is is an open hole in to the carb. Should there be an air filter there?
It's all there, Terry.<br /><br />Outboards almost never use air filters mounted on the carb.<br /><br />Get yourself a Repair Manual here: Manual <br /><br />Your problem is not enough fuel. Probably a gummed up carburetor. Overhaul it with particular attention to clearing all jets and small passages.<br /><br />Good luck.
