That's exactly why I put zero faith in their pricing structures. The fact that you have to input a zip code to get a retail price but not a consumer price should tell you something.

I agree with you about the Explorer. Doesn't matter about the gas prices. Couldn't give me one.

Explorers are nice cars. I've known many a person who has had one and been happy with it for a long time. Fact is, an SUV of that size is generally going to get crappy mileage...even with a v6. They're just 'that kind of car'.

That being said, I think the regional price differences on KBB just reflect the various economies in our country. A used car that sells for $5k in my area (Princeton, NJ) just isn't going to fetch that kind of coin in downtown Wheeling WV, for example. You have to have the prices reflect the location.

But that's neither here nor there. When I sell something like that, I generally look at eBay and craigslist and see what they're selling for, then adjust for the condition of the one I'm selling.

My $3500.....was spot on. That boat is worth $4,500.......Just because you can find a Wellcraft with a motivated, desperate, or uneducated seller, doesn't devalue this boat. What engine was in that Wellcraft? Was it a V6 or was it the V8.....makes a difference....the post doesn't say. The debate is moot, because the guy won't sell at $4,500.....so he gets to keep it.

I sold my 92 Chap 2000SL for $7500 5 years ago. It was in similar condition and a Yamaha outdrive and a 350 GM engine. Probably only worth about $5500 or so at the time, but I can promise you that you wouldnt have found a better mechanical boat than that one.

That being said, I bought my current 01 Tahoe Q7 with a Mercruiser outdrive and a 350 for $2100. Rougher than that one, but I bet I dont have $4500 in it including a new engine and new upholstery, and everything else working perfect.

So what it comes down to is that there is an *** for every seat. Someone will want that thing, and will buy it. I recently sold my Jeep CJ5 for far more than anyone ever thought I could. I didnt need to sell it, and didnt work very hard at it, but I let the ad ride and eventually someone stepped up and paid my asking price. I have talked to him since and he is still as happy as he can be. He loves it. After looking at them all over the southeast, he bought mine because everything else was junk.

Would I pay that much for it? Depends. I would have to look at it hard. And there cant be any others like it around for less money. Also depends on how bad I wanted to be on the water that day I suppose. I have paid over book on things simply because of rarity and condition, but that is rare.
