Explorers are nice cars. I've known many a person who has had one and been happy with it for a long time. Fact is, an SUV of that size is generally going to get crappy mileage...even with a v6. They're just 'that kind of car'.
That being said, I think the regional price differences on KBB just reflect the various economies in our country. A used car that sells for $5k in my area (Princeton, NJ) just isn't going to fetch that kind of coin in downtown Wheeling WV, for example. You have to have the prices reflect the location.
But that's neither here nor there. When I sell something like that, I generally look at eBay and craigslist and see what they're selling for, then adjust for the condition of the one I'm selling.
That's exactly why I put zero faith in their pricing structures. The fact that you have to input a zip code to get a retail price but not a consumer price should tell you something.
I agree with you about the Explorer. Doesn't matter about the gas prices. Couldn't give me one.![]()
