is it ok to run with out the carb cover

I have a 1990 200 gt ive been working on it and have the carb cover off is it ok to run it with out it on was thinking might have more power getting more air without it on

The cover is part of the tuning. It will make more noise without it, fooling you into thinking you have more power, but in reality it is probably making less power. In extreme situations, it might even cause engine damage. Put the cover on.

Not a good idea. you don't want it sucking anything into the motor and causing damage.

Fishing tackle/wind blown sand..........

If I'm not mistaken, that cover is also a flame arrestor of sorts so your boat doesn't go BOOOOM!!!

Danny if you run it with the airbox off and with the cowling off, You will lean it out and lock it up!! If you run it without the airbox make sure you have the cowling on.

sounds like im putting it back on glad we have this site to find this stuff out thanks everone
