is it possible to bench test an ignition sensor or module

I have a thunderbolt ignition (merc 4.3 v6) with the later design module 5 pin connector module.

I have tested the resistence on my coil on both circuits and am getting 1.2 and 10200 ohms so I know the coil is fine.

I have no spark from the top of the coil if I ground a plug and turn the engine over. I have also done the white green wire grounding but no spark.

My Ignition Sensor has some slight rust on its tip and rust on the two screws that secure it, but all forum threads seem to point to the module being broken which is an expensive replacement if its not bust.

Is there a bench test for either the Ignition Sensor or the Ignition Module?

Thanks in advance.

No, but there are procedures for testing to determine what is wrong. Do you have a Thunderbolt IV or V ignition? What year?

its a IV. 1991 I have grounded the white green wire whilst grounding the ht lead from the coil with a spark plug in it to the block but no spark whilst in the run position.
Anyting else I could do?

crikey that was quick
its the process I have followed which should mean my sensor is ok but my module is broken, is there any possibility my sensor is broken and my module is fine, the light rust on the tip of the sensor is a bit of a concern

Re: is it possible to bench test an ignition sensor or module

Ok, took my module to the local mercruiser dealer last night, his mechanic was out so he didn't know if it could be tested, told me to come back this morning.
I turned up at 10am to be told he had tested it and it was fine, he didn't want to charge me for the test either.

So I reckon its the sensor, I have taken it out of the distributor and it looks a bit ruff but I am trying to find out how to test it. Another thread talks about a resistence of 100ohms somewhere but I have tried all contacts on the sensor and cant find that kind of resistence.

There are the two terminals that take the white/red and white/green wires, also two screws either side of the magnet bit but where should I be getting the resistence?

Common fellas, one of you knows!!
