Is it worth it? 1988 115hp mercury

Would it be worth paying $1500 for a good condition 1988 115hp Mercury 6 cylinder or should I look for a little bit newer four cylinder. I am not particular of brand wether it be a Evirude (and its simulars) or Merc. / Mariner. Keep in mind I will not be paying over $2000 no matter what.

I talked to a dealer about the value of my 100 hp 4 cyl 1992 Johnson and he told me I should be able to get $1800 for it.

I will always choose merc over evin. Merc is always #1 on the water. That does seem like a deal with that hp. Just make sure it has good compression, check out condition of wiring, prop, lower unit, and other stuff. Good luck bro.

i agree with mgr, except the #1 on the water crud. johnson & evinrudes are #1 on the water!
