A 1978 20' Grew I/O 165hp OMC, comes with a bimini top, 2 way marine radio, fish finder with built in GPS and maps and an Excalibur galvanized trailer with brand new wheels/rubber.
Guy says it goes great, no isues... It's 3 hrs away, I'll go see it this weekend.
Valued at over $3,000 ?????

The guy is willing to trade it for my '01 Jeep cherokee 4x4 that's in decent shape with 274,000 kms on it. (about 165,000 miles)

A big problem for me would be that OMC(out of busines marine corp)some of the parts nla.

Cant speak for your neck of the woods but around here thats a $1000 rig if it's solid and looks new.
Good luck

Yeah...well...in Australia you'd get $7000 for it.

Grrrr.

For example, there's a fella up the road here trying to sell 21' Rennel bow riders with 6 cylinder engines for $29,000. Ahhh, did I forget to mention they are 98' models?

A closed bow isn't a particularly desirable hull, and it's got an obsolete powerplant. Pass.

I agree - that's a $1k boat. I'm not as afraid of the OMC, but if you can avoid it I would. It'll make a mechanic outta' ya'. Ask me how I know ... :D

Not only does it have a closed bow and an obsolete drive-train , it does not have a crawl through windshield....how would you get to the bow ?? My first boat was a 16' closed bow , but it at least had a three piece windshield so I could get to the bow to anchor and board when launching her. That is a pretty boat and looks well cared for , but I would PASS on this one... ;)
