I have an older Motor Guide Steath 300, 30 lb thrust bow mount foot-controlled troller. It is really about 10 inches too tall for my boat. Are these units adjustable? I loosened the two allen-screws where the upper and lower shafts come together, but that doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks

I believe the only way to shorten the shaft is to buy one or take it apart... :( ...and cut the top of the lower shaft off a little.

Yeah, what OBJ said. Cut it and put a coupler on it to shorten it. It works with little effort. Shortening the wiring is probably the hardest thing you will run into and even that is simple. dissasembly is time consuming, but straight forward. Is it just a matter of the cable from the foot control not reaching the head on the motor? Extend the cable, is so. Much simpler!

RB, the cable length is fine. The problem is,the trolling motor is so tall, that when I pull it up to use the outboard,it is in the way of my controlls. If I let the trolling motor all the way down, it's too deep in the water.
