I have a 1995 E50 DTLEOS 3 cylinder 2 stroke. I was told by a couple folks that this year is the same engine as the 70 but it the carbs are jetted down to a 50 HP. Is there any truth to this? If so would it be smart to build the carbs up to a 70 HP?. Thanks for any info on my motor..Oh, It's an Evinrude..lol

Same engine ..carbs are different, if you can find the correct carbs you can convert to a 70hp:D

I don't know if the two are similar, but you can tell your friends that changing jetting is not how they change HP, this myth seems to be very difficult to put to bed. Jetting is either right or wrong, there is a small range you can be in and have it run well, but if you go either rich or lean the motor will run poorly and damage will be done. It may be true that a very similar motor of a different HP may have different jets, but its because there are other changes that require the jetting to be different.

Thanks for everyones input. I guess finding carbs would be pretty expensive?? I am good with my 50 HP and it pushes my 17' boat just fine so I will probably keep it like it is. I would be nice to have 20% more HP for a small investment though. Any idea what new carbs would run me??
