i have a 1990 raycraft tri v haul boat weighs 750 lbs with 2 adults and two small kids boat takes about 4-5 minutes to get up to speed i am using a 1973 merc 500 compression is 115 psi on all 4 cyl. also put fins on it to help it plane out works better but lost a lot of top end speed. motor runs great i dont know what rpm i am pushing due to no tach but sounds about right rpm wise and just wondering what yall think i picked up a 1974 merc 850 today that needs work and i wont have it ready till next spring.

50 hp is not enough for a fiberglass boat, trihulls are heavy i would say 90 hp min.
