Re: Is my boat rare?
Well, instead of posting up pics of the transom repair, I just kept working along. I took it out on the water this last week, (the 28th, EXACTLY one month from the day I hooked it to my truck to bring her home) to find out I need to rebuild the carbs. I'll post up the pics I took along the way tonight.
I floated the boat before putting the floor in, and had no leaks. I thought about the gluvit, or line-x; but figure it's lasted this long without any issues. Plus I plan on cutting into the hull at some point to go inboard jet drive.
I found 3/4" dryply on sale at home depot for $18/sheet (now it's $13) and did the transon, floor, and seat boxes with it. I'm looking for suggestions on floor covering. I'm between marine vinyl, and rubber coating.
The motor wouldn't shift out of F, so I took the lower unit off, and adjusted the cam. I now have F-N-R. Cleaned globs of sand out of the water system, and have everything flowing great. The motor started up second turn of the key, and ran fine on the muffs. Once out on the water, it would die as soon as I put it in gear. I've run some seafoam through it now, and it keeps idleing while in gear, but dies if I give it throttle. I took the front cover off, to find fuel running out of the top carb. So I'm now into uncharted territory with a carb rebuild happening soon as the parts come in.
