I have twin 1998 175 carbed evinrudes. My temp gauges have needles that swing through a green zone and finaly to a red area when too hot.my starboard engines needle sits right in the middle of the green, while my port engine barely moves the needle at all.If the engine idles the needle makes its way to the mid range like the starboard does, but while running, goes right back down.Im thinking it mite be running too cool? The port engine also reaches 250 rpms less than the starboard at wot 5250 vs 5500 i dont know if the problem is related? thank you

Since you have two of everything switch gauges, thermostats and temp sender unit and see if the problem moves too.

On the rpm difference - - give it the old sound test without looking at the tachs. Get it up on plane and listen for the sweet spot sound that twins make when they are in sync. When you find it glance at your tachs. That may give you an idea if your tachs are off. I would not worry about it if all else works well. If they are off slightly look at the props for nicks, etc.

i would change the thermostats on both engines and maybe swap the temp-gauge sending units from one motor to the other
the gauges probably are right and one motor is running to cool
the cooler engine sounds{to me}like its got a thermostat stuck open
