Hello,

Who can tell me for sure whether my propeller is a through hub exhaust or not?

I am a boat-newbie and I got a 2-stroke Suzuki DT25 (Model No:02503-132880). I am asking this Q' as I was looking in ebay for a new propeller and one of the sellers asked me whether my prop is a through hub exhaust or not.

If the prop is hollow, it's through hub.

My 1985 30 hp is thu-hub so your prop is mostly likely as well unless its old.
Iboats has a good selection of props for your motor and they are just as cheap or cheaper then ebay.

You need to figure out what pitch you need before you buy.
My 30 HP is on a a 15' aluminum boat modified into a bassboat so its fairly heavy. I had a 12 pitch prop on it and went down to an 11 pitch and had some very noticeable gains in speed and handling. If your boat is light and not loaded down then you will need a higher pitch prop.

If you buy a used prop off ebay you need to make sure it fits your year. A prop off a 1989 Suzuki will not work on a 1985 because they changed the hub spacer. If you get the spacer and prop then it will work.

I have the same motors, it is definitely through the hub, get a 13p it works best .....

What kind of boat are you pushing with this motor/prop?

My boat (picture attached) is ~14-15 feet long (2+2 seats) and the old propeller was a 10 1/4 with 11 pitch. Do you think this size of prop is good for the boat? How does pitch increase affect on fuel economy and speed?

As for iBoats I cannot find one of exact diameter nor can I afford the shipping costs from US (I live in Greece).

How easy is it to replace the prop and I read around something about a hub kit, do I need one?

Some props you need a hub kit (like the props from the link above) but most others should have the hub pressed in.
I'm thinking the 11 pitch prop is probably best for your boat because of the size.

Thank you for the website. I got a few Q's in order to fill in the website's questionnair.

1. How would you classify my boat ie bass boat, deck boat, fish and ski?
2. How can I find the weight of the boat? I have no idea its make and model as its a 1973 boat that changed many users and its tags have vanished due to past make-overs.

I push all different boats and inflatables with mine, all depends what mood I am in .... the 13p will make a big difference, more speed and lighter on fuel, you can go to any website or shop and ask for a prop for your model they will have it, these are popular .....

I made a guess and put in some info in the prop calculator and it came back with a 11 pitch for watersports and a 13 pitch for speed.
The info I gave it was a 15' Chrysler closed bow (courier 154) runabout with 2 people, 10 gallons of gas and an extra 100 lb load at sea level.

I put in my info for my aluminum rig and it recommends the 11 pitch prop. I'm carrying an estimated extra 400 lbs or payload so I guess thats why it keeps coming back with the 11 pitch. When I put in 100 lbs extra weight it recommends the 13 pitch.

My boat needs to lose some weight.

I usually carry 4 people plus gear, and I think that makes it a bit heavy! I wish I could get the 13 pitch but the 11 should be right the weight. Maybe I should go half way and get a 12 pitch one

The old prop is hollow so its 100% a through hub exhaust, I cannot see any hub kit besides a nut, spacer and a washer.

Anyway until I find a prop at a nice price I will get my old prop repaired, as it does not feel right to just throw it after buying a new one. It looks as if it can be repaired.
