Thank you for the parts store!! The annoying part is last week I ordered carb rebuild kits from a different place and paid $5 more per carb then the boats.net sells them for. I hate when this happens!!

Also, I checked at mercurypartsexpress and the diagram shows the bolts from the crank side, so that is good news.

This thread is going into my 'boat' file. The advice here is incredibly valuable! I can't thank you guys enough!

OK, here's an update:

The top cylinder compression was 110. The other ones are 125 to 130. I rebuilt the three carbs, completed the link and sync process (timing, et al) and I've now been able to get the boat going 45 mph at 5000 RPM, (Using the Lowrence for speed).

My manual tells me to have RPM's in the 5000 - 5500 range. So I think I'm ok. Anyone disagree?

So I think a rebuild is less of a pressing issue at this time.
