I am planning on taking off the outdrive to prep it for paint. I noticed on this drive thee one nut that looks different and you can't get at it with a socket. (see attached) I'm not sure what tool I need to remove this.
any help is appreciated

Nope, it's a 9/16 nut with a nylon anti back off sleeve on it. They are called Nylocs.
To remove the drive put the shift in forward, remove the trim ram ends, then remove the six nuts. Pull.

that's a anti-theft locknut from McGard. without the key you will need a small cutoff wheel to split the outershell off and then needle nose or small chisel to remove the nut part.

I just bought the boat and will search it for the key. Who would be afraid that someone's going to steal the outdrive?
Thanks everyine
