My boat stood on a trailer for 8 months winterised.I started up the engine on muffs (Mercruiser 170 ) to check the alternator I just installed and noticed that the water that came out of the drive was dirty in the beginning .Did an oil change and when I started it again I noticed no flow.Shut down immediately and disconnected the raw water hose that goes to the heat exchanger- no flow ,even the opposite water comming out of the exchanger`s inlet when I revved up a little. What could that mean?I changed the entire raw water pump last summer. Thanks!

Ayuh,....

Sounds like a Blockage between There,+ the Impeller pump.....

Start There,+ Backflush it.......

Either the impeller went bad or you have some kind of blockage. Are you sure the muffs are on good? There is enough water pressure in the hose? If so.
Take off the lower and inspect the pump.Just cause it's new doesn't mean it is still good.Jerry

Thanks! I checked the impeller -totally toasted,so for the future I`ll know that after long periods out in the sun, the motor should be started with the leg submerged ,so the stuck impeller should soak and free itself easily on initial start up.
