I have the manual, and in the back a warranty card with the model, serial number and purchase date. Model is SF300, purchase date 4/21/94. Wierd thing is, the Parts Guide for SF300 says Year of Intro is 1996 (http://www.reelschematic.com/motorguide/sf300.pdf)...so this I don't understand.
In the manual under Maintanence Tips section it says, "Always thoroughly rinse your unit with fresh water after use in salt water."
But, I've called a trolling motor parts place and they said trolling motors can be for salt and fresh water if it has a salt option or somthing. They said if it was designed for fresh, it should stay fresh.
I'd like to be sure this motor can handle salt water, and that it won't break it if I do put it in salt water. It would be good if the manual said "YES, your SF300 can be used in Salt or Fresh Water...go for it!" But it doesn't
Can anyone offer any confirmation or advice on this unit? Thanks.
