Is there a 1997 Evinrude 140 HP 4 cyl that is "fuel injected"?

I am about to buy an engine. The seller just told me that it is an "Evinrude 1997 model, 4 cylinders, 140HP and Fuel Injected".<br /><br />I just want to know before I consider viewing the engine if there really is one that is already "fuel injected" that was manufactured on that year.<br /><br />Thanks!

No, it's not fuel injected. Then again in 1997 there was not a 140 - it was a 130.<br /><br />However, some marketing dim-wit decided to call the prime feature "fuel-injected priming" - this may be what your seller is refering to.<br /><br />-John

Get the model number off of the transom bracket and post it.From that we can give you the year model ,horsepower,and a lot more info.

That's a 1994 140hp. Evinrude with tilt & trim,long shaft and VRO. Like ob said, that's a carbureted engine.<br /><br />c/6<br /><br />Hooty

Evinrude, 140hp, tilt and trim and electric start, 20" shaft, 1994 model year.

Hmmm......... Is this motor OK being a 94'? Should I look around for a 96' or 97' would there be significant difference on a 96/97 compared to a 94'140HP?<br /><br />Thanks!

Hi benzguy777<br /><br />Just my opinion. I think OMC supplied their best quality ( except from now maybee ) in the years from early eighties til mid nineties. If the motor is in good shape and at a fair price, i´d go for it. However stating a 94 is a 97 vintage tells you something about the seller - buyer beware !!
