There is a company in Oregon, Affiliated Resources, that makes specialty wood laminates for the marine industry with a lifetime guarantee against rot. My Sanger uses this extensively. There are engineering reasons where the characteristics of wood are a significant plus. If you had used their Aqua Ply Plus for your floor it would not have rotted. If it had been well prepared and sealed, almost any wood should have lasted more than five years.
