Is there a cure?

I come from a long line of mariners, fishermen, on both sides and always seemed to be around boats and mariners. I owned my first boat back in the 1960's, a 26' steel cruiser on Lake Erie, then life, career, and travel got in the way.

Last winter I picked up a 21' bow rider at a bargain. It was/is in need of work and I replaced the back 8 feet of the sole this spring, planning to do the front this winter and turn it into a cuddy. It's a nice little boat, tight as a drum, efficient to operate, runs well, and suits my needs though a little tight.

Then a 27' Bayliner twin I/O cruiser shows up REALLY cheap - it needs a little work to but seems sound ......

Why am I even LOOKING! I have a boat! I don't need a second boat! I haven't even finished fixing up the first boat ..... shouldn't be looking to "trade up" already!

It's a sickness I tell you, A SICKNESS!

Is there a cure????

Absolutely, no cure usless you move to the desert. then it will be dune buggies, or hot air ballons.

Re: Is there a cure?

It's almost as bad as bass fishing. I've been sick for about 30 years, but my wife just got ill. She used to say that there is no way in he!! she would get up at 4 in the morning to go bass fishing. We went fishing about 7 on Monday, and right off the bat she caught a 4 3/4 pounder (pretty good in a state where the record is under 9 lbs. Thursday morning, 4 am, she dragged me out of bed to go bass fishing. Last night, weekly date night, we went to Cabellas and bought a heavy bass fishing rod for her.

When will it ever end? :D:D:D

I don't have much of a boat and I'm happy with it, but if someone could cure me of airplane sickness I'd pay good money. You think boats add up fast? Airplanes suck your account dry like WOAH.

Re: Is there a cure?

I seem to have it so bad that I am now projecting onto my friends. Just last week a friend from church told me he bought a boat. My first thought is "better make sure he gets his Mercury service manual right away, we gotta start working on something. I quizzed him on PFDs, 2 cycle oil, fogging spray, LU gear oil, anchors, etc, etc.

Then I realized it was a BRAND NEW boat and he will probably spend most of this summer with the cowling on. Lost a little interest in his boat. Oh well maybe winterizing.

New special emergency rule:

Anyone posting a cure for boating and/or fishing addiction will be banned forever and ever and reported to all other boating fora on the Net.

Also we will tell your mom.

Re: Is there a cure?

Your affliction is known as MBS or Multiple Boat Syndrome. There is no known cure. It is fatal.

I too have the MBS disease. The 27'er is in great shape, the 24'er is waiting for the Restoration Fairy to come, and the 19'er is my flood guage :D

Cure? We don't need no stinking cure. We just need more shop space.

Ummmmmm ..... well ..... ahhhhhhhhhhh .........

Since I have two boats, about 15 outboard motors and a six wheel, amphibious ATV, I guess I shouldn't offer advice.

I'm confused....what needs to be cured? This seems pretty normal to me.
