Is there a good Bow-lifting Prop?

I looking for the subject for my 1977 inline 150HP Merc. My boat runs fairly flat at high speed with a standard Merc 3 blade prop(12-3/4 X 19-21 pitch), and I think more bowlift would allow higher top speed. However, I need good holeshot, for water skiing. Is there a prop that had both good holeshot and bow carrying capability?

The bottom design has a lot to do with what you are looking for. Tell us what kind of a boat you have, the set up and what prop you have now.

Good luck!

I think bowlift be more effected by the trim of the motor or the use of some type of trim tab.

One prop can't be all things to all people. If weight redistribution and trim isn't enough, you may want to consider a 4 blade prop to help keep the bow up when you're trimmed further out.

Re: Is there a good Bow-lifting Prop?

Thanks for the replies. The boat is a 16' Avenger, 700 # plus the 300# motor. It has a shallow vee hull, and the motor is currently mounted about 1/2" above the bottom. At WOT, I turn 6000 RPM (about 55MPH) with a standard Merc 19" SS prop, at optimum trim. I think if the bow was higher, I could get more RPM and therefore use a 21" pitch prop for more speed.
I know you folks will recommend I raise the motor up on the transom, and I may do that, however the boat needs to be driven by amatures, so it cannot be too hard to trim or have too many adjustments needed, of the wife willnot pull me on skiis.
