Replacing the raw water pump and would like to seal it up good. So iot will be exposed to salt water. Also goibg to replace the exhaust manifold and riser.

Nope, no silly cone on water pump gaskets. Gaskets only. Same with exhaust riser gasket. No sealer of any kind

I ask because there is some light pitting on the lower unit where the gasket goes and I don't wan it sucking any air in there and cavitating (sp?).

if you use sillycone a leak is assured, ill warrenty that. if you feel the need to use a sealent perfect seal is permissable on the pump gasket, the riser gaskets go on dry after the metal is clean and shiney. <br /> sillycone has very very few uses in the marine industry, that and the acedic acids seem to react with saltwater and actually create corrosion problems with aluminium.
