Is there supposed to be a gasket????

1998 Force 120---Just changed water pump. All seems OK. But there was no gasket between the lower unit and the middle section of the engine at all. (Even around the pump housing area)seperating the exhaust from the pump. Is this OK?

That's normal to not have one between the lower unit and the housing....
