Re: Is this a bad plan?

yes, I think bad idea
My mates ally boat sitting on his trailer in a car port, neighbour watered the garden with a sprinkler thingy and the boat filled to the gunnels with water, as well as loosing all the electical things in the boat, the boalt actualy couldnt handle the weight and bent around the rollers.
If the bung was out the water would have just run out harmlessly.

NO FREAKIN WAY.
I would be sooooo pissed.

Re: Is this a bad plan?

I forgot to pull my plug last fall and I was out tinkering one day and bent down behind the boat to pet the cat and noticed it was still in. I pulled it out, and watched water streaming out for about 10 minutes. That would be when I realized I had a tear in my cover. Having too much faith in a $150.00 cover could cost you thousands. In my case, thankfully, nothing was ruined, but lesson learned and now the plug comes out when the transom saver goes back on right after putting the boat back on the trailer.

...so I say, BAD PLAN! Take out the plug every time.

...by the way, here in Oregon I believe we will be going to the same rule as Minnesota due to invasive species problems. One of the beauties of this state is there are so many rivers, lakes, streams, of course the ocean, etc., so close together...makes it easy to forget you could be accidentally transporting something you don't want to be!

That was a leak...That was not rain...We managed to remove and replace 36 ac units on a building in goodyear on monday...

What storage Facility are you at and what do you Pay monthly.

Sorry off topic Post.

Red Mountain Storage on Recker and Mcdowell...I pay like $126.00 for a 43' covered RV spot...I need a place to keep my work truck 'cause the HOA sucks and wont let me park at home...

I remove the plug when we stow the boat after a day out. I only have mooring covers and when it rains I don't want to drain my battery because the bilge pump ran everyday for week. Wish I had covered storage...

Yes an Inch of rain in 10 minutes during a Monsoon the roads cannot handle.
Yeah, I remember seeing bone dry, 20' deep wadis turn into raging rivers a few feet below the highway.
I remember some people were drowned when they tried to drive under the highway in a flooded under-pass in Tucson.
