I think this is a pretty good deal considering what people are buying the motors for in good shape. here is what it is and a picture....

1988 18' tournament series BassTracker FIBERGLASS bass boat
1988 Mercury 150 Black Max power t/t
Jack plate
SS predator prop, and aluminum prop included
Foot controlled 46lb thrust trolling motor 24V
2 fish finders, 1 flasher in the dash, 1 newer LCD display up front
Bilge pump, livewell, t/t, lights, everything works

Motor was only used once per week a year for the past 14-16 years as he only used the boat in canada. Before every winter the motor was fogged, and had maintance done to it. Compression test came out good-excellent!!

Carpet is in great shape, seats are in good shape, except 2 smaller parts in the front need redone, no big deal there...

Trailer has some rust on it. Im going to grind the rust off and repaint with cold galvanize and repaint black. Again i work at a trailer company, no big deal there either...

Boat... Has oxidation. Again..... no big deal as that can be buffed out. Again... another free fix.

$2500 for it all. how does that sound? Motor is very clean, i would rate the appearence a 9/10. barely no scratches, clean inside and out. Looks like you could eat off the inside. Started on 1st key turn from last year.

Here is a few pictures, sorry for quality but you get the idea. I figure the motor just needs a water pump impeller, and batteries to be water worthy. Everything else will be minor TLC and can do myself for free since i have everything. let me know what you guys think.... Thanks!!!!!

I think you're getting a fair deal. If the trailer hasn't been used in awhile I'd be wanting to replace or repack bearings for certain. But being in the industry it shouldn't be a big problem for you. Then again, you get what you pay for - looks like a nice boat from what I could make out in the pics. :D

Not a bad deal as it is around the NADA book value.

Re: Is this a good deal on boat/motor/trailer?

I forgot to mention, both bearings were replaced last year on the trailer. I looked at 5 boats, and all of them were around the $2k-$3500 range, and the other boats were smaller, biggest was a 75hp motor and all of them looked pretty used, and some of them were even in early-mid 90's and didnt look as nice. one guy wanted $2k for a regular 16ft jon boat with a 91 40hp johnson. Im on the east coast (PA) so it seems boats go alot higher here then on the west coast. I thought $2500 was a steal compared to all the other junk i looked at higher in price. I figure i would get the boat as nice as possable, and stick it upfor sale in the spring for $4k and see what happens. he said the motor may only have 50-75 hours on it. It looks like it, and looks like its only a few years old. My dad had a 1998 evinrude that didnt look this good and he takes care of his stuff.

Re: Is this a good deal on boat/motor/trailer?

I just went to the NADA site, and looked up the value. Just the boat/motor/trailer they said low-$2310 and average-$2580 thats with a 110hp motor. This has the 150 black max v6. I went through and checked all the extras like the power t/t, boat cover, stereo, ss prop, jack plate, and came up with low-$3510 and average-$3940 still with the 110hp motor. They didnt give options on motor sizes, so im guessing the upgraded motor would add maybe $500 at least to the value. So maybe a NADA value of about $4500? Thats also not including the foot controll trolling motor which is only 2 years old. I beileve he paid $350 for that installed. Plus the very low hours on everything, and its going to look like a brand new boat within the next 2 weeks. :) Im going for a showroom condition shine. There are barely any scratches on the boat at all.

Water rocket, lol. Yeah he said he had it up to 64mph with the jackplate pretty low. by himself, and 3 batteries. he said messing with the jackplate you should be able to hit maybe close to 67mph. Good enough for me. lol. The lakes around my area are not very big, so i may have a WOT time of 2 minutes. Saves hours on the boat motor though. :)
