New to the forum here...found an old 14' Ouachita fiberglass with a 33HP electric start Johnson and I bought it for $300, that was with trailer, boat and motor. I couldn't pass this up. Only problem with the motor is that the electric start isn't working...it has new ignition and the guy said he can use a screwdriver and jump across the solenoid and it fires right up, think its a loose wire somewhere. Watcha guys think, I gotta good deal!

In August of last year, he put $500 into the motor and got it running like a top: new shaft, water pump, ignition and few others. He said the fiberglass is in good shape and has new plywood under the carpet.

Questions on the motor would get better results in the Johnson/Evinrude section, it sounds like the starter motor is shot.Bad /loose wire, maybe. Before you start hauling it around you may also want to go to the trailer forum and learn how to grease and check your axle bearings as a precaution or end up on the side of the interstate, When it's 90 degrees out, pondering how much it's going to cost you to get it fixed and towed out of there. To answer your main ? if your happy then it's all good.Yep it sounds like you did all right. The fun has just begun.

My grandaddy fished out of one of those with a stick steer setup for years. He swore by it. I know he caught many a bream, crappie, catfish, bass, etc. out of it because I was a frequent beneficiary of said yields. YUM! Enjoy the rig and don't be a stranger. Welcome aboard.
