Re: Is this boat overpriced?

In most cases, a 90 hp outboard with power trim will outrun the same boat with a 130hp I/O with regard to top speed and also be faster out of the hole. The weight difference is substantial and an trimmed out outboard is much more "speed friendly" than an I/O. I stand by my comment that he won't be happy with the 130 I/O.

You do realize the boat in question has a 130 HP outboard, right?

Good grief...what a moron!!!!! :):) How in the world did I miss that, I even looked at the picture when this was originally posted.

Disregard EVERYTHING I said and go get the boat....the engine alone is worth $2000+......lol

If you don't, I will......:D

I would guess you should be able to do 45mph+ with the right S/S prop.

Re: Is this boat overpriced?

Honestly the women and I have decided to push back the boating search. Wasn't sure what to get. I have a good idea, now. If i can't get this boat for a reasonable deal we'll probabally just end up waiting for next year.

I'm also comparing the 1st post to this ebay.com item. This is like 5 miles from me.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=270610136403 Price ain't great, but I expect to find boats in that condition priced this fall and spring. Would I be off base in that assumption?

ps

boat dealership is still trying to sell us a 19k boat when I went in asking for a 6-9k used one. :(

Whhooo weeee!!! That thar is shore a purty boat! But I kin buy them things all day fer purtin' near $3,000...Yous fixin' to git hog wallered!

Actually, it seems like a decent price for the boat if all checks out. Check the floors and transom for soft spots.

I've lived in South Carolina for 50 years and I've never once heard somebody talk like that.... you watch too many movies.

that looks like a nice boat. it may be a little high but in the end, you have to ask yourself if you mind over paying a little bit for a nice well maintained boat. I am not trying to talk you into it, just something to think about.

I think you would be MUCH happier with the Sea Ray... longer trust me you will really notice the extra 2 feet, more room, better resale value, TOP QUALITY boat, and I think it is a very fair price, the boat looks to be in great shape

BTW I just sold a 1987 Sea Ray 190 BR that was in great shape for $4400

Good Luck

Re: Is this boat overpriced?

the first boat listed in the post has a leaky carb, but its 5200 obo... no idea how a leaky carb figures into things. I also wonder if its a misdiagonsed problem.

I wouldn't mind the sea ray for approx 6800. I think 7500 is too high. There is always next year though.

I guess i should figure out how a Carb motor lasts for reliability vs a fuel injected one. I'm guessing 99% of all mid 90's models will not be fuel injected.

That SeaRay appears to be in EXCEPTIONAL condition. And yes, that will command a premium price. And in my opinion, would be worth it.

Not a big fan of that boat with the 130hp engine. You'll be hard pressed to get 35mph out of it. That was Four Winns entry level boat...a nice boat, but you'll hate the little engine after a couple weekends on the water. That being said, the price is reasonable, compared with what we'd see here in Ohio.

I disagree with this. I had a 97 Glastron which is a very similar hull, it had a 100hp 4stroke on the back and I was able to get 42 out of it with 2 people on board. You should be fine with a 130.
