Re: Is this idea CRAZY or not

Your prop is in serious need of a visit with the "prop doc." The chewed up blades are probably causing at least a little cavitation.

I'm pretty sure that your boat is the same as the boat that I mentioned previously. The Chrysler 55hp motor that my friend had on it, made it "fly." That motor is a pin drive setup and the gearcase is much smaller, but I still think your boat should be performing quite bit better than it is. Getting only 34 mph with 50 hp and a 19" prop on a 10' boat, means that something isn't right. I suggest you start with a better prop.

I didn't read all the threads (mostly seemed a waste of time and gave you no direction) but the first pic got me thinking. Your problem with the 1st pic is that your well is not that wide right. So make a mount that goes across and or above your well and motor and then mounts to the motor.

Imagine the steering arm in the first pic upside down.

2nd explanation more clear: Make a rectangular square tube that mounts across your transom goes up a foot and goes across and above the motor then back down to your starting point build mounts/legs that go to the transom if something is in the middle and you cannot just bolt it down to each side. Mount the steering on the top cross bar of the tube and fab and arm DOWN instead of UP as seen in the 1st pic to the motor. You might have torque for the engine being able to tilt So figure that out to. Possibly a bracket headed towards the bow as a triangle support. Possible hinges or tubes that unlock/unpin apart and rotating arms could keep the tilt functional when getting out of the water.

Focus on the solution not the problem.

You need a new prop that huge piece missing is your loss in HP. Go to a salvage yard = $50

Like I said I am going to stick with the 50 but the prop shown in the pic is a early photo when I first set it up last year..I have two newer props I run now that are in great shape.I am going to raise the motor height about a inch this year too and see if that helps a little...Thanks
