Hi guys,

On the iboats site, they have a close-out sale on a stainless steel Michigan Match propeller ( link ).

Would anyone know if this prop is similar / identical to the Mercury Vengeance? (part number 48-16320A46 )

And, as a follow-up question, has the Vengeance prop changed much over the years, or is an older one just as good as a newer one? (assuming both unused)

Thanks!

Stevens, I think that MWC prop is closer in design to the std quicksilver stainless.
The early Vengeance with a solid hub would be my choice, over a flo-torq hub.

Thanks, Walleyehed.

Do I understand you correctly that the Vengeance blade geometry has been basically the same over the years, but that the hub changed at some point to the Flow Torque system?

I guess a solid hub is better for your racing purposes?

I think I prefer a softer hub myself, as the solid hubs seem to be a bit harder on the gears when I shift between forward and reverse. Also, the soft hub saved me this summer when I got a rope solidly jammed in the propeller.

What's you impression of the Vengeance by the way. A decent all-round prop, is it?

Anyway, thanks again.

I guess what I meant by "solid" hub was that the rubber hub was a factory installed one-piece unit insted of the flo-torq design...still rubber, but the press-in style, and not the new DIY 2 piece hub.
The blade shape has stayed the same as far as I know.

Thanks - that's what I thought you meant by "solid" vs. a Flo Torque hub.

Why would you prefer a solid type hub?

Honestly, less parts to fall in the water while I'm changing props in open water....:)
