Hello everyone I have a prop question. On my port motor it seems to break free after 3500 RPMs as if it would go into neutral and jump to 6000+ RPMs. would not catch again until i brought it back to below 2000. here is a picture of the 2 props that I have.
Good one
Bad one
The rubber sure looks bad and deteriorated. Use a marker straight across the hub the next time you go out. If the mark is no longer lined up, hub has spun.
I agree, there is no question that the hub is shot, you can see the melted rubber in it. No need to do any further tests, send it in and get it fixed, or replace the prop.
I wish I had known more about props. THis is the first issue with props that I have had in my time with boats. After seeing what the good hub looks like before it is pressed I wouldnt have even had to ask. it was 100% toast. at first i thought it was added in after the hub not 1 piece. its in the shop now for a MRI and straightening and new hub being pressed in.
