Is this the correct process?

In order to start and run the engine on a hose... Is this the correct process?

1: Hook the hose to the Muffs and put them on the lower unit correctly.
2: Turn the water on... water will start going everywhere.
3: Crank the engine and let it flush.

Is that the correct process? For some reason I feel like I am missing something lol.

Two more questions...

Water shouldn't come out of the tell tale hole until the engine is on right?

Since it is in neutral the prop shouldn't be spinning at all right?

Don't walk away, i know there are no kids. But the is THE DOG, it's been known for an engine to burn up because the kids and dogs pull the muffs off, or they just fell off. then it's really time to sell the kids & dog. seriously, it has happened many times.

lol Tasha you crack me up! I think something is wrong The engine is firing right up BUT the prop is spinning very slow. I reckon something isnt right because it shouldn't be spinning...

There is also very white smoke coming out of the back of where the prop is. Its coming from the the side that the pin is on if that makes any sense.... Basically if your standing directly behind the boat looking into the prop... that is where the smoke is coming from. Being a new boater I dont know if this is normal or not? Whats it mean?

Prop is spinning slow. That's normal. There are two gears rotating on the prop shaft in opposite directions. Whichever gear has the most friction in it's bearing will tend to drag the shaft in that direction.

Smoke is supposed to come out the prop. That's the exhaust pipe. Relax, will ya?

also the the exhaust going thru the prop causes it to spin. very normal. hey I wasn't kidding about walking away. do you have a good pee stream, i mean the motor.

Project ended early I have to sell it!

Got a offer letter in the mail yesterday from an interview I did last week and it was UNBELIEVABLE! Now I have to move to Chambersburg, PA by the 16th!

Really dont want to sell her but think were gonna be in an apartment.

lol ya know im actually not too worried about it. I am doubling my income and I have my eyes on a different boat this time around

All the fellas who were suppossed to come yesterday, were no- shows! Kinda upsetting that they waste my time like that.

I think im still having more issues now though... Before I said the prop was slowly spinning but I went out and ran it again and it has quite a bit of force behind it and is spinning pretty fast! Im not sure what to check for, I am guessing the shift rod may be wrong? Dunno. Im heading on vacation today and wont be back till next Sunday. Then I have two weeks to find a place up north and move!
