Is this Transom seal safe for one more weekend?

New to the I/O arena, shoot, new to boats and boating in general. Just as the post title is asking, am I ok this weekend?
Just bought the boat and the guy said his outdrive mechanic " left it on because it was still good",.
I have ordered a new one but I would like to go out again this weekend. Thanks...

I can't really tell anything from your pics but if it is AT ALL questionable then no.... Any sign of cracking or rot, then fix first.

Time to find a new mechanic. It could last a year... or last an hour. I myself would not trust it.

When it comes to boats if you have to ask it is probably not safe. You can't just pull off to the side of the road like you can a car.

Weigh the cost of the fun you will not have if you do not use it versus the cost and aggravation if the bellows breaks open and you sink the boat. Would you run tires that had sidewalls cracked like that? I know, poor analogy but the best I could come up with.

Analogy coming right up....

My parachute is looking pretty ragged, can I use it for one last jump?

It might be fine ... and if you're not seeing any sign of leaking then it is fine. HOWEVER, the kick in the pants on a Stringer is when that rubber boot lets go a WHOLE BUNCHA' WATER COMES IN REALLY FAST. On plane, you can out run it ... but when you stop to go get the trailer, she's gonna' swamp or sink (unless you got a couple bilge pumps that can double as water cannons).

I'd be more inclined to pay the overnight shipping and fix it first.

Hey whats the worse that can happen? Oh, that is right, I could sink! Just get it fixed, we still have quite a bit of boating weather left.

By the way, have you taught the kids and friends to swim yet?
