Dude Really!!!!!

I understand heads and the things that go on in them with the special paper. But it sounds to me like you are just wanting to throw paper towels and plates into the water. This is no good and I am at a loss why anyone would ever think that this is a good idea.

I will buy you some garbage bags if you want. This is not a difficult concept, keep your trash with you until you get to shore!!!!!!!!!!!

And please until this concept has sunken in stay off the Suwannee River.

Poo is a natural substance but i'm sure not going to take a dump in the lake!
People swim there....just nasty to think of all the trash that gets in our water.
Nothing pisses me off more than seeing all the trash, beer cans and plastic bottles floating in the lake on a busy weekend.

Why is is so hard for people to carry a trash bag on the boat?
Just amazing how stupid some people are.

I think the OP just wanted to get a rant started and boy i could get wound up with this one!

Even if that were true, the water is not a dump. Surprised you even asked that question.

Yeah, it's just a troll. Outta here.

I don't thin so--look at his stats.

Although the answer is clear, it's not really a bad question in one respect, and as I tried to express: there was a time when consciencious boaters thought it was harmless to throw paper product overboard. That way of thinking has changed. Some people, however, have not gotten the word. Same way people used to not think twice about tossing a cig butt, but now that practice is called into question.
Hopefully discussions like these will reach those who do not know. The ones who do not care, are hopeless anyway.

They sure do, and thanks to a number of programs, most are free to pump out now. I pump out at a facility (usually the gas dock) every Sunday afternoon, whether I need fuel or not. Most popular anchorages have a pumpout boat that comes around for free as well. There is very, very little need to discharge a holding tank overboard unless you are very, very far out and have been, or will continue to be out there for some time.

Highly doubt it as it's so damn bio degradeable :p

I spit out of my cherry seeds over board as I drive and eat all the time, if the trash nazi nail me for that, then bite me!

I do not think it is the trash police going overboard, as I guess I would have to put myself in that group, but people having an overall concern for our waterways and oceans.

I do not know the intent of bowmans post, but to me it kinda reads like he might have the inclination to toss used toilet paper overboard, as it clogged up his plumbing after a while. I think that would be irresponsible. Just use a trash can. Ever been to Central America? They have signs everywhere that state NO paper products go down those toilets, unless you are in an area that actually has sewers. Just toss your TP in a trash can, and move along.

While you might be too young to remember this, there were commercials in the 70's, IIRC, that were anti-littering, the ones with the crying indian at the end.

There are a reason we have those laws. Things were getting pretty messy. We'd all rather not go down that road again.

I remember that crying Indian very well, he was standing near the road, a bag of trash thrown from a passing vehicle landed at his feet, a tear rolled down his cheek as he stared across the great plains.

every smoker out on the water throws thier butts overboard. they pollute more than anyone else. throwing butts out the window on the road. Are there any smokers who boat, who don't throw butts into the water?

When you see trash wash up on shore, it is never paper, just plastic and rubber and what not.

yep. I allow smoking on my boat and the butts go into a half-empty water bottle and it gets hauled out with all the rest of the trash. none go overboard, we practice leaving it cleaner than we found it. Heck i even stop and pick up floating debris and take it back with us too. other peoples trash mainly.

Carry in, Carry out. I have had people want to throw an apple core or something like that overboard, and I won't even think of it.

Trash bags are cheap and easy to use.

Not EVERY smoker does. I smoke and don't throw the butts overboard. Nor do I throw paper overboard.
