With this early spring and warm temps I'd LOVE to go out for a ride, but lack of snow/ rain (or any real winter) has kept our lake 2.5 feet down:( (They draw down every fall in anticipation)....

Rain was anticipated for this past weekend but it was just a quick passing drizzle, this week is looking dry also. We need a good solid week of rain.

It stinks, I'm ready to go but the dock I use is dry and more akin to a beach.... our ramps are short, only a few small fishing boats and such in.

I look at lakes like Travis in TX or Meed and I get bugged.

It is nice to know here in Tx that we got a couple feet o Water in most of the lakes i fish from the last storm !!
Can not beleive your worried about a paltery 2.5 ft . lower when I look at lake Travis which is 46 ft down at last check , unless your lake is only 10 ft deep.

No, it is the fact that it is still March and this side of the globe has not heated up enough. The water level where I launch seems to keep rising ever so slightly each year . . . something to do with the polar caps melting.

we had some rain this winter in central TX...fantastic wild flower season.

BUT, lake travis only has 1 set of ramps open and there's only 7' of water left until they close. that won't take too long. gonna be a miserable year for travis....46' below normal to start the year...yikes.

Put in for my first run of the year here near Nashville ... lake level is down and easy 4 to 6 feet. The pier I normally moor up to when I put in is currently sitting on dry rock about mid-way down the launch ramp. On this particular lake, that means that the EXCEPTIONALLY rocky bottom is much closer to the outdrive than normal.

I watched a 24' footer hit mud in a place I have run over top of with no problem for 4 years. CRAZY.

I don't know how fresh water folks put up with this stuff . . . dramatic changes in water levels, etc.

Maybe that is one of the few advantages of being on the ocean. :p

Dat's it. I've actually never been on OH ... the first two runs of the year were quick ones so Priest won the draw (it's just easy). I might run down to Normandy next run.

Was out by Rock Island this weekend and they've got that way down too.

I'm enjoying the lack of melt and not particularly raining Spring thus far. Usually at this time of year the river would be brown and filled with debris.

We still have 2 feet of snow in the field!!
Drive way is in the break up/mud stage for 50% of it the other is still 2-5 inches of built up ice, but green grass over the septic tank OH YA!!!
Usually by this time the snows 60% gone, the prediction is we are 110% over on the snow pack in the MTs around here and if the weather warms up we could have serious flooding this year.

Above is a picture I took from a friends dock, same place I kept my boat last season, as you can see, the deck boat on the lift isnt going anywhere fast... from 50+ feet out it is maybe a foot deep at best currently.

Our lake, (Hopatcong) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Hopatcong is deep in the middle (40-50ft), North end is sorta shallow at 5-10ft but very shallow shoreline leading up to the center channel, it has almost all fixed docks on pilings.

While this month has been very dry we took Vmax's boat out to my favorite lake a couple weeks ago and our res is 40'+ HIGH! I hope this is a sign of the snow pack and hopefully we can fill some of the reservoirs in the flat lands this year.
