OK, so this probably isn't the best place to start this thread, but it is valuable information; moderator, excuse me.
I am new to this site, but right away I was frustrated by how slow things were to load on my computer. Every time I wanted to move to another screen it would take me 10-15 seconds - way too long for me!
If you follow the thread in: Other, Non boating technical, you will learn from the pro's like I did that it doesn't have to be slow. I tried Firefox as my browser (others were also mentioned), and wow what a difference! What used to take 10-15 sec. now is measured in a blink. I'm totally impressed. By the way, I'm just a carpenter (Gen. Contractor) and am in no way connected to Firefox. Just wanted to pas this along so everyone can enjoy this site without worrying about falling asleep between pages.

Make sure that you do not have any 'malware' (spyware, virus, trojans, etc) loaded. If switching browsers made that much difference, I suspect that something isn't right.

Adaware and spybot-sd are good utilities to have on your PC. Sysinternals "root kit detector" is also a good one to run now and again. All in addition to an anti-virus [AVG] and firewall [ZoneAlarm]. (All free solutions, too).
