Isalator sleeve

I bought a used motor guide trolling motor was told it is a 2007 yr model ,bow mount did not come with it as I already had a motor guide mount on the boat. Question do I need a isalator sleeve in the mounting door? The boat is a 1991 TX17 Tracker and the mount on the boat I was told is the one that was on it when new.Some one had tried to mount a MinnKota to the motor guide mount and it just does not work well. Do I need the sleeve??

The sleeve I was talking about is the rubber sleeve that is between the shaft and the tension mount I believe it is for shock if you hit something.
