i have always liked center consoles ( had 2 mr18s) but like the full transom of a i/0 . looks like i might have bought a 22 islander cheap with an i/0 and am thinking about cutting off the top, redoing the floor which probably needs to be done anyway and getting a console for it. i dont think im messing with the structural integerity of it. PRimary reason is the increased fishability and having easy access to front of boat and the fact that if i screw it up, im not out much. Mostly will be used on great lakesfor salmon, walleye, perch. Thanks for any impute.

Thanks for the reply, just got finished looking at most of that post. Looks like it is a doable project. Wish he would have posted the finished boat.

Here is an Islander to side console conversion. Details here. Only difference between CC and SC basically is where the console is placed on the deck Good luck and Welcome to the Tin Flotilla. Keep us posted, screw.

THanks again for all the feedback. SKagen, dont cry yet, its not a done deal. Just thinking about some options. Would really like the MR19 but they are few and far between. I always liked the look of a inboard center console and this seems like a doable conversion. Also would be easier for me and my son to handle, no climbing on the bow to anchor. Great site
