It a miracle - or not

Getting ready to put the boat in tomorrow for the first time this year. Put it away just before Halloween and this will be the latest we have ever been in. Changed the plugs, wires, cap/rotor, fuel filter and oil. Cranked it a couple times and once the fuel system filled back up, it started up and ran great in the driveway. Just need to top off the tank in the morning and we are off to do some skiing for fathers day.

The miracle - yet another year of storing 1/2 - 3/4 tank of E10 with no snake oil and the boat runs fine. Maybe not a miracle since the same thing happens with every piece of gas powered seasonal equipment we own. opcorn:

Consider yourself quite fortunate. There are those that go to casino's and win money frequently however in my 6 tries at gambling I have never won a penny, not one. Therefor with my luck I use the "snake oil" and have never had a problem except for the years when I forget to put it in.

Its been the norm here for 20+ years and I don't know a single person who buys stabil or startron. Only place I ever hear about the stuff is in this forum. Somehow everyone I know gets "lucky" too.

That is good, the only time I have had any difficulty is the couple years I forgot to put it in my fuel. I have found it works well in my car, with actual records I avg about 1.5 mpg better fuel economy. I used to rebuild carbs on boat about every 5-6 years but with stabil have not had to do one going on 10 yrs now. I have had a lot of water in our fuel in my area so perhaps our fuel is of lesser quality than what you may have in your area.

I don't remember when we started getting E-10 here in NY, but the manual for my '88 outboard discusses its use (it says it's acceptable, BTW).

Ethanol began being blended into gasoline as in oxygenate in 1992 in Minnesota. MTBE was used prior to this, but was found to be contaminating soil and groundwater, so its use was banned. I deliver gas to gas stations here in the great state of Minnesota.
