Really need help on this one. I may have an old Evinrude outboard motor, it looks like a picture of one I saw when trying to research Identifying outboards, but has no markings other than some parts numbers cast into some of the engine parts and power head case. Here's what I have found 2 cylinder, has forward, reverse, and neutral cast into the case, the pull starter mount has a number 277555 on it, cylinder #203374,203527, head cover 203717,203716. I would like to Identify it to get the manuals and get it running

found out it has no fuel pump and relies on a fuel tank that is pressurized by a small hand pump then once the motor is running the motor pumps air int the tank to maintain pressure. it needs a special fitting on the motor and a pump on the fuel tank. I guess I have to find these just to see if the motor will work, any ideas

Maybe a middle 50's (55-56-57) 5.5 or 7.5 hp.
You sure there is not a tag on the port transom clamp with some numbers on it, does the cowling say anything on the side, like Fleetwin?

looks like a early 60,s 5.5 hp had one ,thats a twin in looks.looking at it more it may be a painted 63 or so johnson possibly .after further thinking thats what mine was,but it was blue not white and the motor was the exact same color as this one.could of been repainted as im sure mine was .

Its not a 5.5hp, I do believe it is a 1955 7.5hp Fleetwin.

Intake side covers would mean 7.5, 5.5 didn't have those. Check exhaust on leg, looks to be from a 56 up, 55 had a different style exhaust. Should be a 56-58 Evinrude Fleetwin.

Good eye. The '55 doesnt have the exhaust relief hole as pictured.

Yep, it is a 7.5 due to the curved exhaust cover instead of a stamped metal plate on the 5.5hp.

Looks like a '56 or '57 Fleetwin. The '58 would have a white grip on the tiller and different casting for the carb's high & low knobs. Also, '57 would have a black choke knob. All those parts could have been changed or replaced, but my money is on it being a 1956 model year, model 7520 or 7521.

Is there a silver disc on the side of the motor block with the model number stamped in it?

There should also be a small tag riveted on to the transom clamp with both a model and serial number, but I'm leaning towards '56-'57 7.5 hp too.

Thanks, found a web site with a posted parts diagram with some of the numbers from my motor parts. now I found out I don't have the right fuel tank. Thinking a small gravity drip to see if it starts before I invest the money in the right one, can't run it but want to see if it will fire.

Just run a gravity feed hose from a gas can higher than the engine, should be able to run it all day that way. Make sure to use the proper oil/gas ratio.

found out the tank I have is the right tank just missing the tank to engine manifold, I think i can work around that but TLC doesn't begin to describe what the tank itself needs. This is fun! Thanks for your help

It may have already been mentioned and I've overlooked it........ Quarter size core plug, looks like a small freeze out plug, on the powerhead? If there, it may have the model and serial number on it.
