Saturday evening, the weather was great. Lots of people at the docks talking about the past winter season. The boat ramp was almost cleared except for this group of drunken wannabe anglers.

They back their little compact car and trailer down the ramp. It hadn't seen a muffler probably in years, so this got everybodies attention.

Their boat was a little aluminum boat that could have been carried out by two people. However they loaded it up on the trailer just like everyone else would. Only problem is the driver thought he would do a burn out and jerk it out of the water.

What happened was the trailer got pulled out under the boat like a table cloth pulled out off a table setting. The boats bow went straight up in the air and came smashing down on the ramp. KABOOM! The noise echoed across the lake!

Have you ever heard about 200 people bust out laughing all at the same time? It was great!

Re: It was a quiet night till.....

Reminds me of a time many moons ago I was launching my dads boat on a Scottish Lochside. It was a busy night and a guy turned up with a brand new boat on a shiny trailer he went past all us lesser people to launch his boat further up the shore where mortals fear to paddle,as he unhitched his trailer(did not want to get his nice car wet)and shoved his boat and trailer into the water the boat floated free unfortunately his trailer also disapeared below the waves dropping down the 300ft shelf we all knew was there but all assuming he knew what he was doing hadnt told him (thats my story and I am sticking to it) the next week he sent a diver down to locate it but it was too deep. That boat lay on the shore for weeks ,normally it would have been stolen or vandalised but I think even the hardest of men felt a little pity! sadly I am not hard and did not feel any!

We were salmon fishing on a local river a few years back. The launch had three ramps, but only two of them were usable. (A van with a trailor on the back of it went past the end of the ramp and pulled up a few of the concrete cross pieces when the front bumper hooked them on the way out.) Guy with a drift boat goes down river 30 yds from the ramps. Drops it over a steep bank on the trailor. No problem for a drift boat, unless you leave the strap across the middle of the boat holding it to the trailor hooked up. Last we saw he was waiting for low tide about 6 hrs later to get the water out of the boat so he could pull it back up. At a ramp semi close to this one a friend of mine used the handle on his net to locate the roof of a guys S10 pick-up, can you say, left in neutral?
Art
