I think so, except for what seems to be an obsession with Iraq. But, I also suspect a hidden agenda in the threats and saber rattling.

Some would like to blame him for the sad state of our economy, but it was in the can before Billary left office. :)

Ditto JB, on the economy part.

I think the obsession with Iraq is that Saddam is one scary, lunatic SOB with some really scary weapons and a deep hatred of this country.

Re: it's been 2 years. is he doin' a good job

Take a look at it from a different perspective.
Iraq is ruled with force and greed, the power holder can and will desimate any percieved threat to his personal control with whatever it takes to keep that very control. Thus he must have major enemies within his own country.
Fear keeps these folk at bay generally. Would you risk your wife and kids lives to protest?
Saddam plays a winning hand really in terms of control within his country. His biggest mistake is to consider other countries to be as frightened by his threats. Thus the stalemate with a full war.
I think he realises he'd not stand a bloody chance if the USA were to wage war, however he could do irrepariable damage to some countries perception of the USA by antagonising you guys to 'shoot first'.
Many countries are hanging back at present, showing that they are re-considering their stands re; this issue.
I wonder what would happen if President Bush were to find some way of lowering the public perception of this threat of war against Iraq?
I'm not playing devils advocate guys, I just haven't seen any mention of this type of thinking on the internet yet......
Ross

Bush is not doing a bad job. However he is not necessarly doing a good job either. A lot he had in his agenda to do kind of got pushed to the side on Sept 11. In dealing with that he did a great job and hopefully he will keep the same thing up till all of the and all those who support these international criminals are brought to justice. I do think he does need to start trying to make more of an effort to work on the situation here at home but hey we are not much worse off and in some aspects better than we have been under any of the others.

Re: it's been 2 years. is he doin' a good job

We the consumer, Bill Gates and Alan Greenspan have WAY more to do with the economy then the President does. You all know this don't you?
Of course Dachael and Gebhardt and the rest of the "tax and spenders" would have you believe otherwise.
Funny stuff, for every bill of fiscal responsibilty that gets passed, the Democans tack on HUGE pork barrel spending projects to it, then blame it on the Republicrats.

Anyway, 4 years of Gore and 9-11 and shades of the last administration oozzing all over US would have just made me very, very ill......Bush is doin' just fine......for now.
You guys know we deserve a lot better then we've been getting for the last 175 years of Presidents..........right?

I like Bush and if I was American, I'd vote for him. He's a straight shooter and exactly what the world needs in these times of excessive political correctness.

One thing I can't stand are those world leaders who sit on the fence when there are hard decisions to be made - like sorting out the bullies of this world like Saddam, bin Laden etc, etc. There's too many of those types around for my comfort.

Out of all the present world leaders, my pick of the bunch is Bush. He will go up even further in my estimation once he's dealt with Saddam and/or bin Laden.

After serving under a multitude of "Commander In Chief" Presidents, I look back and would venture to say GW is doing par for the position.

I sincerely doubt we (the USA) will wage war but the no nonsense attitude is more refreshing then being stepped on.

I certainly would never want his position of resposibility.

Election day today! Vote early :D ....vote often!

Bob

Re: it's been 2 years. is he doin' a good job

No, he is not doing a good job. He approaches foreign policy like a bull in a China shop. When you act the like you are the only one that matters in the world, you are not doing anything to help. While I hate war as much as the next person, especially the American lives it will take, Saddam is a sick person and must be removed from power. It should be the UN that decrees this. If the UN does not come out with a resolution for this, then Saddam has successfully thumbed his nose at the UN and it is as worthless as the old League of Nations. In this, I agree with GW. Should we take this on ourselves? I am torn. I do not like the strike first. What if the Russians had this policy? We would not be here now, but Saddam is a cold blooded killer. It boils my blood to think that we have been behind Saddam for so many years when we know he has committed mass murder. This happened through many administrations and should be on all their heads. Where were we when we knew Saddam gassed his own people? There should have been world outrage and action then. On the environment, we will be lucky if there are fish in our lakes after GW gets through with it. With every decision he makes, it seems that he is making decisions that benefit only the oil campanies. It would be nice for anyone in the office to start looking at the big picture and start acting in our children’s best interest. No, I don’t say give in to the environmentalists. We do need to be realistic. Do I think Gore could have done better, NO! It would have been weaknesses in different areas.

You mean into debt, right? Economically and environmentally, he seems to be doing quite well.

Blacksmoke,

The debt was his predecessors. Remember all those "short term-high interest" notes the last admin. signed? Guess what, they came due. Also, 9/11 didn't cost anything-right? The Congress gave away money after 9/11 like drunken sailors.

The President cannot spend money, only Congress can. Also, the President cannot create law, only the Congress can, (although some courts think they can).

Just wanted to make sure we all are in the same country. :D
