A small soldering iron doesn't need much power, you could just use a small inverter. Or get a battery powered soldering iron. They may even make a 12V one.

Well finely got the new shift lock piece in. Had a lovely 65 degree day to head out and ride a bit and replace it. Going out tomorrow fishing, but I think this may be the last of it for the season. I will wait till its in the yard to tear into the controller and lube it up.

Not a boat part but it is broken really really good, 13 screws and an 8'' plate, that would be my upper right arm.

This would be the residual of my motorcycle deer hunting trip, other than some scabs this is the only real injury so I am very happy, for coming off a motorcycle at 50 mph I came out well better than can be expected.

I broke the bike too but again, it wasn't half as bad as I thought it would be, order some new plastic and I am back a *** in the spring

Never did get my last trip in.

OUCH, I saw your post a bit earlier but didn't say to much because I guessed it was to hard on you to to post to much, I am very sorry that happened, I really know how it feels. I really really hope its healing up ok. I used to do a lot of road and dirt riding and have dumped them more times than I care to remember. The bike don't look to bad though. Many years ago when I got home from boot camp on leave the first thing I did was to crank up my old 400 cc 2 stroke Yamaha road bike and head out on a ride. I got about 3 miles and had it layed over real good going around a tight turn and a dog ran out of the weeds into the front wheel, I was doing about 40 at the time, I had a real bad case of road rash that took most of 4 months to heal up.

That`s interesting to me because my 97 S 10 recently had exactly the same thing happen and I haven't gotten around to looking at it. But I did go out to the boat and look into my controller and found a broken part and I wasn't able to open it up to grease I will need a impact driver to get the case screws out. So I do have to hunt down a part for a merc commander 2000. MY neutral lock holder is broken

1995 suburban experienced the same problem. Always lowered the visors to hold the silver sunscreen in place in the windshield. I constantly had battery drain. The one evening noticed a light in the cab and realized it was from the visors. The bulbs were then removed. Most everyone I know with older similar vehicles have reported the same issue.

Oh and just replaced the impeller on the Yamaha F40 ;-)

:laugh: Yea I am sure it will, My parts finely came in so now I need to get the new bunks made and installed and drag the boat home so I can start in on the winters repairs.
I ordered a 100 foot roll of bunk carpet, and went today and got wood and roofing nails, and got 1, 16 bunk done 3 more to go

Okay today was my day to break something. Broke the hose barb off the gas tank, didn't know there was a anti siphon
thingy inside the barb. Guess I'll have to replace the whole thing. Da*^%*it. Think I will pay someone to take care of it.
Either that or see if I can find a 12 or 15 gal. tank. Regards, old jim

It is snowing here and the Toon is winterized and going in storage tomorrow. So I pass the "baton of breakage" to those fortunate enough to have had the good sense to locate in the South.

Got the new bunks made and installed and found some of the composite lumber stuff that worked perfect to make new bow stops and drug the boat home today. And I am all ready bored out of my skull its going be a long winter. :ranger:

Here's the cover support structure I built using hi pressure PVC pipe. The top fittings I got from a canopy supply company. I wish I would have ordered steeper angle fittings to help prevent snow load.

On top I strapped down a standard tarp, then put my cover over all and strapped it down tight. Stays perfectly dry inside now. I left some open area at front and back so air can move through but no rain can get it even if blowing.

That`s a nice set up and mine is more or less the same thing I just went a bit bigger so I can go inside of it and work over the winter.

I made mine out of 2 in pvc and common T and elbow fittings. the stand off poles are 6 foot, to have walk around room on 4 ft between the T`s and elbows. I used 3/16 rope at each fitting to add support for the tarp and stabilize the center ridge. I off set the pole on the front outside of the gate to allow entrance. Used a 19 x 32 foot tarp so it has plenty of coverage and it hangs over the back at the pontoons to allow plenty of air flow front to back.

My thought was being as I had to spend some money on it any way why not make it like a tent so I can work in it. I don't have much if any snow here its mostly rain so with one of the BBQ propane tanks and a heater I should be good all winter.

@MH Hawker: That's a nice set-up. I take it you store your toon on your own property. I have to store mine at a nearby storage facility so I needed to be able to trailer it with the cover on. My main concern was the ability to support typical snow loads for the area. If we get a deep snow, I'm not sure how well my cover will hold up....next winter I'll probably modify mine to have a steeper pitch like yours.
