Until a little over a year ago, I was employed as a vehicle inspector. Most of my day was spent cataloging damage to the exterior of different cars and trucks. With that in mind it is by far the most common thing you will encounter on any new car, oddly enough more common than stone chips on the hood. In my opinion it comes from people having no respect for others.

And what is it, if the bluebook value of the vehicle goes up and down, depending on how much gas is in it.

Dings and scratches are the number one reason that I now prefer white vehicles. You just don't see the damage. Up here, cracked and chipped windshields are the norm. In the winter they pour 1 inch diamter rocks on the road for traction (at least thats what it seems like), and you can't get through the spring without getting a chip or a crack. The solution? If you get a chip, leave it. As soon as you put a new windshield on, it gets cracked withing a month. Ask me how I know that....

No one actually mentions the real truth behind all of this. IF PARKING SPACES WERE MADE TO HOLD CARS AND LET PEOPLE GET OUT NONE OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN. I have actually measured some spaces in lots and the ones at Wal-Mart are smaller than the ones at the school I work at and the ones at Lowes are even smaller. This is not by much but even inches can mean getting one more space and one more car in. I drive a surburban and I can park where I can get out or the wife and kids can but not both in about 90% of the places we go. We are carefull not to hit another car untill someone who should not be driving pulls into the next spot ridding the line and I come back and can't get in. As far as door dents go I don't have any that I have noticed but then agian my truck was still made right in the 90's.

JasonJ, we have the same problem here with the <br />stones they put on the roads in the winter time.<br />You would think they could find some smaller sand<br />like gravel to spread on the road instead of the <br />large rocks they throw around. I just leave my<br />windshields cracked. Like you say, if I were to<br />replace mine it would be cracked again in just a<br />few weeks....

I was waiting in my truck one day and a lady pulls up and used my truck as her doorstop. When she got out and noticed my look of astonishment, she simply said "Oh! I'm sorry, I didnt see you sitting there."

You should have punched her in the mouth and said " I didn't see you standing there"

PFB is onto something! which reminds me:<br /><br />if you are going to Orlando's Disney - drive a rental, or take a bus<br /><br />those were the smallest parking spaces i've ever seen. if little red wagons had doors, you couldn't open both at the same time there ;) i think they were really designed for skateboards

Came out of a store a few years back to find my door bashed in and a folded note under the windshield wiper. The note read something like this:<br />"The reason I'm writing this note is because there's people watchin' me. They think I'm leaving you my name, phone number and insurance info, but I'm NOT. Sorry."

Thanks spinner_bait nut. I will try that.<br /><br />Ray, you don't hold your breath while shooting. You breath out while squeezing the trigger. :) At least that is how I was always taught. You can hold it more steadily that way, and are more relaxed while doing so. The same goes for alot of things. I hear it all the time at the dojo. Sometimes to much. ;p

BFD, that really stinks! I am sorry man! Wish I had been there to see the person that did it. If I see something like that, I do try to talk with the person and make sure they are doing the right thing. I always hope someone is watching my back as well.

Thanks, Aspeck! Appreciate the support. I've been over it for a long time now, though.
