Afternoon/morning guys.

Quick question. I’ve been trying to get my ’82 70HP engine to work properly but I’m struggling. Should the inline fuel filter fill up completely, its just that I’ve noticed that mine seems to contain a thimble full and when I open the throttle up she bogs down under load but in neutral she can scream to 6,000 rpm without missing a beat!
Annoying would just like to open her up properly and know she’ll be ready for the ski/ fish season!

Thanks

Run it over 2000 in neutral much more and you won't have to worry about it. :D

OK, shotgun approach: Make sure the tank is vented properly, the fuel line is clear, and the bulb working properly. Get a new filter, and replace the diaphram in the fuel pump. Clean the carbs.

Now all that's left is the idle needle settings maybe needing anther 1/2 turn out, or it's overpropped.

I'm assuming the ignition is set up properly.

-W

Re: Its still chugging

Cheers for that info guys.

Please could you explain why something could happen when revving it beyond 2k in neutral?

In a previous thread I mentioned that I installed a new fuel pump kit, diaphragm, check valves etc and this kit included a spring with cap to keep the diaphragm stretched. Have any of you guys seen this before, is it any good?

The instructions for this kit described the check valves as one white & one red, yet I had one white & one black valves. I'm certain they are installed in the correct locations, could they affect performance.

Ta
Mark
Sunny UK
