Who's ready to jump in their Four Winns this season??? Where and when will you be enjoying it this summer???

We're going to Northern MN in July for a week of boating and fishing, among many other weekend trips in and around central IL and southern IA. We just need to hit 50 degrees on a consistent basis though!!!

Jump in a boat? Who's even thinking much about it now? We got ten inches of snow yesterday to go with our already three feet on the ground. The weather channel says snow 6 out of the next seven days. By the way it looks it will be the fourth of July before we can splash. ;) Seriously now I hope to splash by the end of May. We are just 85 miles south of the Mighty Mac.

Sometimes I wish we lived in FL so we could use our boat every weekend!!! My son will be 4 this summer and I can't wait to drag him around until he cries (he'll love every minute of it)! :)

Where do you Boat. In the Illinois River? We lived seven years in Centralia, IL

I know what you mean about Fla. Me too this time of the year. I wouldn't want to be there from May-October though.

I don't see ourselves boating on the IL river very often because it is extremely hard on boats and stern drives. Most of our boating will be on Clinton Lake (near Decatur, IL), Springfield Lake, and ocassionally on Lake Rathbun in south eastern IA. However, if we are time-limited, and the IL river isn't flooded, I suppose you might see us there from time to time. Where do you boat?

This is the first winter I can say I really have cabin fever bad. Sold the winter toys (atv / snowmobile) to focus on finding a good used Horizon 220 or 240 from the mid-90's. Found a 220 that has the sport seating package but I am too far apart on price at this point. Then I found a 240 with the back-to-back and the 302EFI that I will be looking at this weekend.

Does anybody have the OMC with the Ford Marine 351EFI or 302EFI? I have never driven a boat with and OMC sterndrive. I have driven Mastercraft with the 351 and it was a solid motor. All my experience has been with Merc Alfa 1 or Bravo 3.

How is parts availability for the OMC Cobra sterndrive?

We boat all inland lakes. Houghton 20,044 acres and Higgins lake 9,600 acres and Lake George 209 acres.

I've read in other forums to Run don't Walk from OMC. To Stay away from OMC they are out of business and the parts will be hard to come by. Also OMC are hard and expensive to work on. They say best to stay with Alpha or Volvo Penta . Mine is Alpha 1 and I have had no problem.

I agree 100%. Love these boats. We're in northwest IL. Mainly the Fox and chain lakes. Still learning the channel. Already went through 1 prop. That's the way it goes Im told. Nevertheless, there is no better way to spend a weekend.

Gonna get the Winns out of winter storage in the next week or so then head-off to a vessel check with the local Power Squadron. Got the wife enrolled in boater safety so all we need now is "above freezing" temps. Gas prices are still favorable ($1.99/gal this morning) so let's hope they stay that way! Spent way too much $$ at Cabela's, Bass Pro, and West Marine last weekend so you could say spring fever is hitting home... Just wish I had more time off from work though!!!

Awesome! I really can't wait to get the boat out this year. Of course, being in Southern Ontario really means the boating season is 3rd week or so of June, but I guess the little Sylvan will have to do.

cbavier, I'll have to agree with your comment. We've hardly had any major problems with our 180, and the little ones we did have were solved quickly and professionally by our dealer.

Re: It's too quiet on "our" forum!!!

Well mine came out of Winter Storage (Our Fairgrounds) last Saturday and yesterday morning I put it in the garage before all the rain hit for cleanup and a wax job. It's still winterized. Rained all day (after I got it in the garage) and rain is forecasted for the next two days. 39 dg here right now. I had a sick Cat and had him at the Vet all afternoon yesterday. We are just a little over an hour south of the Mighty Mackinaw Bridge.
It was 76 here Friday. Today and tomorrow I will clean all the vinyl and vacuum. As soon as it warms up a little bit more I will polish and wax. It's still has to be summerized.

Heck, I'm just excited to get it out of storage and clean and do some start-of-season maintenance on it. My first time doing it myself, the 400$ the dealer wants is not happening this year. I guess theres no better way to learn than doing it yourself ( with lots of help from the manual of course).
